Born October 6, 1924 to Ammon Miller Sr. and Barbara (Near) Miller. Graduated from Odessa High School in class of 1942 & one year at Michigan State before joining the Marines in WW II. After the War, he continued his education. Married Violet Sidnam on October 23, 1948. Jiggs farmed for 10 years before changing his major from forestry to teaching. Taught in the Caledonia School System until retiring in 1978. After retiring from teaching, he volunteered for the Rd cross, later volunteered for the Brethren Disaster Ministries, working as a disaster volunteer for over 30 years. Survived by his wife, Violet of 72 years; his two sons, James (Anne)Miller, Kip Miller, and daughter Julie Ann(Dennis)Barker, six grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents, sister, Sarah Anne Miller, and his adopted daughter Kristine Miller Warf. Ammon was a registered body donor at the Univ. of Mich. Medical School & in 1968 signed up with the Anatomical Donation Program. Koops funeral home in Lake Odessa has transported his body to the U.of M. His ashes will be interred at Clarksville cemetery. A memorial service has been planned for Saturday, June 5, at 11 a.m at the Hope Church of the Brethren, 14275 92nd St, Freeport, Mich. 49325 Visitation with family will be held from 10 a.m. to time of service.
