In Nov. 1868 she came with her parents to Ionia Co. and settled on the farm in South Berlin, which is still the home of her aged mother. Nov.3,1877 she was united in marriage to Mason Miller a young farmer near Saranac. About 12 years of their early married life was spent near the old farm home n South Berlin. In 1892 they decided to try their fortunes in the northwest and together went to Rhinelander, Wis. where by industry and economy so natural to one of her sturdy ancestry she helped to carve out a comfortable home which with but a few moments of warning she was bidden to leave, her death occurred at her home Nov. 16, 1911, as the result of an apoplectic stroke her life going out in about two hours after she uttered the first complaint. The body was brought to the home of her childhood and her funeral was held at the old farm home Tuesday Nov. 21 in charge of the pastor of the South Berlin M.E. church and her body laid int he cemetery north and east of the old home. She leaves to mourn their loss besides the husband of her youth the aged mother, one son, six brothers, two sisters, three grandchildren and a host of friends. Among her neighbors the floral decorations speaking louder than words, the esteem in which she was held, the word Katie in beautiful floral letters voicing the aching in the tender heart of her loved ones.
