Miller, 77, of 517 North Michigan avenue, Hastings, formerly of Clarksville area, will be conducted Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at Grace Brethren church. Mr. Miller had been in ill health several years and died at 8:25 Thursday evening at Pennock hospital where he was a patient six days. He was born November 15, 1886 in Irving township, the son of James and Mary Sampson Miller. He attended Irving school and did general farming in that area. October 15, 1911 he was married to Ethel Zuschnitt and following their marriage lived on a farm east of Brown school in Carlton township eight years. They lived on a farm on Bell road north of Pleasant Valley church several years before moving to Hastings in July 1963. Mr. Miller was a member of Grace Brethren church located west of Lake Odessa for 60 years and during that time served as a deacon and was Sunday school teacher and superintendent many years. He also served on the pastoral board and was moderator of the church until forced to retire because of ill health. He was a former member of Pleasant Valley school board. Surviving are his wife; one daughter, Mrs. Sterling Ostroth of Hastings; six brothers, Ward and Claude of Lake City, Arthur of McBain, John of Caledonia, and Stephen and Warren of Clarksville; two sisters, Mrs. Maude Ward and Mrs. Flora Morrison of Lake City; five grand and nine great-grandchildren. The body will be at Leonard funeral home in Hastings until time of service. Officiating will be the Rev. Simon Toroian with burial at Clarksville cemetery.
