Miller when she taught in the local schools about 25 years ago and who recently read of her success before the Illinois supreme court in securing a judgment of $35,000 for attorney fees, will be shocked to learn of her death in Chicago on Tuesday. While teaching in Portland Miss Miller made her home with Mr. and Mrs. James E. Newman. After leaving Portland Miss Miller went to Chicago where she studied law for several years and was later admitted to the Illinois bar as one of the first women lawyers of the country. She made a decided success of her chosen profession and was one of the noted women of Chicago. For several years she had been active in the cause of woman suffrage. She was born in Calhoun county, this state, 48 years ago.
