The Portland Observer, Wednesday, July 12, 1899
Died – at the home of her father, WM. G. Miner, in Orange township, Monday 
morning of this week, Artha Miner, aged 16 years.  Deceased was an unusually 
bright young lady and was loved and respected by all who knew her.  The cause 
of her death was tumor.  Funeral services will be conducted from the Hall 
church in Orange on Wednesday at 10:30 o’clock and burial will be made in 
Portland cemetery.  Miss miner attended Portland schools up to the first of 
the present year.
