He was born on March 23, 1956 in Ionia, Michigan the son of Lynn and Phyllis (Martin) Miller. Mark was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, mushrooming and camping with his family and friends. He was a long time member of the Grand River Conservation Club and was a member of the Alano West Club, where he received his 10-year coin in November 2006. He retired in September of 2006 from General Motors after 30 years of service. He and wife of 30 years Sandra Blue, were married on April 2, 1977. Mark is preceded in death by his mother, Phyllis and father-in-law, Merlyn Blue. He is survived by his wife, Sandy; son, Kurt (Sarah) Miller; daughter, Trisha (Kyle) Balderson; grandchildren, Maria, Brady and soon to be born Matthew Shane; father and step-mother, Lynn (Nancy) Miller; four brothers, Scott (Shari) Miller of Oregon, Terry (Debi) Miller of St. Johns, Roger (Mary) Miller and Dennis (Sally) Miller both of Portland; sister, Susan of Kentucky; mother-in-law, Jean Blue; sisters-in-law, Deb (Leo) Frazee, Pam Blue and Diane (Ken) Whittmore; and several nieces and nephews, along with a special fondness for Amy and his great-nephew, Noah. The family would like to thank Dr. Chamarthy of the Sparrow Cancer Center, Dr. Janakiraman of the Henry Ford Bone Marrow Transplant Team and the many physicians and nurses who helped care for Mark during his illness. The family would like to stress the importance of registering to become a bone marrow donor in the hopes of helping future transplant recipients. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 24, 2007 at the Portland United Methodist Church, with Pastor Gregory R. Wolfe officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Ionia. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. on Tuesday, and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday at the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, 210 E. Bridge St., Portland. Pallbearers for Mark include Mike Martin, John Rock, Dave Smith, Chris Pline, Mark Marrison and Phil Lanz.
