The Lowell Ledger, July 20, 1916


Ionia, Mich., July 15.—Word was received here today that Palmer Brooks Miller 
was shot five times and killed by a policeman in Chicago.

Miller is the youngest son of Mrs. James Taylor of Ionia and was at a house 
party in Chicago.  A burglar broke into the house and young Miller started to 
run after him. Miller passed a policeman who ordered him to halt, but the boy 
kept after the thief and was shot five times by the officer, who mistook him 
for the fugitive.

Mr. and Mrs. Taylor left today for Chicago.  Young Miller was a relative of 
Mrs. A. J. Brower of Lowell.
