Sentinel-Std. - Wednesday, June 13, 1962

William C. Miller, 73, died about 12:50 p.m. Tuesday at Ionia County Memorial 
hospital where he was admitted the previous night. He had resided on Fargo 
street the past 21 years and four days ago moved to Morse street.

Mr. Miller retired December 1956 after 38 years employment at Ionia post office.

He was born in Ionia, October 23, 1888, the son of Ludwig and Mary Heiden 
Miller, and spent his entire life here. He was married to Elsie Storch 
September 24, 1912. 

Mr. Miller was an active member of St. Johns Lutheran church and over the many 
years held several offices in the church. His hobby was raising chickens and 
for many years had exhibited them at the Ionia Free Fair.

Surviving are his wife, Elsie, two sons, Ray Miller of Glendale, Ariz. and 
Norman of Kalamazoo; one daughter, Mrs. Helena Ruehs of Ionia; 10 
grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Lemke of 
Ionia.

One son, Donald, died in 1932.

Funeral service will be held Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at St. Johns Lutheran church 
with the Rev. Theodore Timler officiating. Burial will be at Highland Park 
cemetery. 

The body will remain at Boynton funeral home until time for the service. A 
memorial fund has been established in his honor for the building fund at St. 
Johns Lutheran school.
