Mills died at his home on North Plains, Saturday, June 12th, in the 80th year of his age. He was born at Great Barrington, Mass., in 1807. At the age of twenty years he moved to Ann Arbor, this state, where he was married April 15th, 1830. The same year he moved to Jackson. At the latter place he made his home for seven years, moving from there to North Plains in 1837, where he has lived ever since, assisting in the transformation of what was then a howling wilderness to its present state of beauty and fertility. Mr. Mills was the father of nine children, five of whom, with their mother, mourn the loss of a kind father and a loving husband. The deceased was a man of strict integrity, and should his progeny take heed to his counsel and practice it, they will have no cause to regret having had so good a counselor. The funeral took place on Monday, June 14. Services were conducted by Elder H.A. Pallister, and the remains laid to rest in North Plains burying ground.
