Belding Banner-News, 2 Feb 1940

Orleans – Mrs. Mary Mills died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Charles
Johnson, Friday evening after a long illness.  As Mary Schenck she was born at
Bridgeton, Michigan, 76 years ago.  Her husband, the late Jessie Mills, died two
years ago at their home in Lyons where they had resided 18 years.  Since his
death Mrs. Mills had made her home with her children.  They are: Mrs. Chas.
Johnson of Orleans, Mrs. Marvin Hackett of Owosso, Mrs. Fred D. Dean of Dresden,
N.Y., Charles Mills of Lansing and Harry A. Mills of Corning, N.Y.  Other near
surviving relatives are: sister, Mrs. Amelia Hood of Dresden, N.Y., and two
brothers, Richard Schenck of Okemos and Orlando Schenck of Grant, and several
grandchildren.  The funeral services were held from the Johnson home Tuesday at
ten o’clock, with Rev. George Woolcock of Ionia, officiating, and the interment
was in the cemetery at Grant.
