A nonagenarian, she was one of Ionia city’s oldest native born residents. A 22-room family home is one of the oldest in Ionia and was built by her father in 1868. He was also the architect for the home now used by the Hall- Fowler Memorial library and the old Central School. Born March 7, 1867, she was the daughter of Lucius F. and Delia Mills. Miss Mills was graduated from the Ionia High school in 1885 which was the fourteenth class in its history and had 16 members. Through the years she had accumulated a valuable collection of antiques. Included was one of the first pianos to be brought to Ionia. She was a member of the First Presbyterian church of Ionia and the Ionia Garden Club. Surviving is one sister, Mrs. Bessie M. Johnson. Private funeral service arranged by Stone-Kauffman Funeral Home, will be held from the residence Saturday afternoon, January 2, at 2:30 p.m. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
