Born in Chicago June 17, 1928, he was the son of Charles and Mildred Corcoran Millwood. He attended Chicago schools and moved to the Ionia area in 1969. He worked for a railroad for about 30 years until his retirement in 1984. Surviving are his wife Doris, a son, Charles William Millwood, Jr., of Belding, three daughters, Charyl L. Vlasblom of Rockford, Jacqueline A. Coleman of Zephyr Hills, Fla.; and Penny Marie Millwood of Chicago; three stepsons, Stephen L. Mapes of Belding, John O. Mapes and Gerald H. Mapes of Ionia; four stepdaughters, Debra L. Christensen and Judith L. Pickel of Ionia, Laurie S. Bowerman of Manton and Amy E. Gilbert of Belding: 32 grandchildren; a brother, Robert Millwood of Chicago, three sisters, Charlene Richey and Mary Ericksen of Chicago and Gloria Zahn of California and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one sister, Patricia Sims. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday from Shiloh Community Church, with the Rev. Kenneth Harger officiating. The family will be at the Rich Street Chapel, Cook Funeral Home Monday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and Tuesday, 7 to 8:30 p.m. A memorial has been established for the American Cancer Society, in care of the funeral home.
