Minard died at 8:30 Monday eve., at the home on Harter street, where they moved only about a month ago, from the homestead farm in Easton. She had been in failing health for some time, and sick for two months, although her condition was not considered alarming until the past week or two. Her maiden name was Henrietta E. Fitch, and she was a daughter of the late Jas. M. Fitch. Her marriage took place in Wisconsin in 1861. In 1867, Mr. and Mrs. Minard moved from Wisconsin to Ionia, Mr. Minard becoming a member of the firm of Fitch, Tew & Minard, engaged in the manufacture of agricultural implements. Two years later he bought the farm in Easton, which remained as their home until their return to this city this spring. Two sons survive of the five children born to them: Ernest E., now mechanical engineer in the Western Electric company, Chicago, and Arden J., of Detroit, private secretary to the president of the Pere Marquette railroad company. Arden arrived here yesterday at noon, and Ernest this morning. Mr. and Mrs. Minard were both active members of the Methodist-Episcopal church in Easton, and the news will bring general sadness in the community where they lived so long, and where their social ties were most firmly fixed. Brief services were held at the home here at 12:30 Wednesday, and the more general public services at the Easton church, at 2 o’clock, standard time.
