Minard, who had recently been ill and was awaiting transportation to a veterans’ hospital, was born in Bowne township, Kent county, August 4, 1918, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Minard. He attended Clarksville and Freeport schools and served in the United States Navy before and during World War II. Minard was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose, American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and Disabled American Veterans. He is survived by his mother and step-father, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Erickson of Ionia, and by a daughter, Mrs. Lyndon Christal of Ft. Worth, Texas. He was preceded in death by his father in 1922, and by two sisters, Mary Eleanor in 1925, and Delores, 1952. Funeral service will be at Myers funeral home at 2 p.m. Friday with interment in the family lot at Bowne Mennonite cemetery.
