Portland Observer – Thursday, 27 December 1934
Funeral services for Sylvester Miner where held Wednesday afternoon at the 
Neller Funeral Home under Masonic auspices with Rev. John H. Steward 
officiating.

Mr. Miner died Sunday morning in a Detroit hospital where he had been 
receiving treatment for heart trouble and dropsy.  He has been ill for the 
past month.  He was born in Portland 44 years ago, but for a number of years 
had made his home in Detroit.

Besides the widow, who was formerly Hazel Watkins he is survived by a father, 
Chester Miner, of Grand Ledge, and the following brothers and sisters:  John 
Miner and Mrs. Ben Goff of Portland; Lester Miner of Cleveland, Ohio; Kayle 
Miner and Mrs. Gordon Baxter, of Grand Ledge.
