MARTHA MINER -- USEFUL LIFE ENDS PIONEER RESIDENT AND BUSINESS WOMAN-- MEMBER OF SEVERAL ORGANIZATIONS --- MANY MONTHS IN POOR HEALTH. ---------- Mrs. Martha Miner, mother of our prominent business man, Otis Miner, after an illness of several weeks, following several years of poor health, passed to her heavenly home Tuesday evening at 6 o'clock. Mrs. Miner and her husband were among Lake Odessa's pioneers, owning and overseeing the Miner Hotel, now the Hotel Burke. After selling the hotel they went into the mercantile business, the son Otis, coming a partner and proprietor at the death of the father. Mrs. Miner was long a member of the Congregational church where for years her services were of great value especially with the serving in the Ladies Helping Band of that church. She was indeed a Martha of great value. She was a loyal member of the O E. S. chapter, having filled many of its offices; also a faithful member of the Woman's Relief Corps. She had lived an active life and will be greatly missed by her many friends. The funeral was held at the Congregational church Thursday, the sermon by her pastor, Rev. E. L. Prentice and she was laid to rest in Lakeside cemetery. RESOLUTIONS OF CONDOLENCE Whereas: In his Infinite Wisdom, our Father has seen fit to remove from our Chapter, our beloved sister, Martha Miner, therefore, be it. Resolved, that her untiring zeal in the work of the Order Eastern Star and her faithfulness to its precepts shall be an inspiration and a sweet memory to those who are left behind and that she shall be greatly missed and truly mourned, and be it further. Resolved that our sympathy be extended to the bereaved family and that a copy of these resolutions be spread upon the records of our Order, a copy published in the Wave-Times and a copy presented to the bereaved family.
