Minier, employed as a switchman in the yard of the Michigan Central at Detroit, received fatal injuries on Friday. He was switching cars and when the yard engine came along he attempted to step upon the platform in front as usual. He instantly discovered that a splinter of the iron rail had been thrust under the sole of his boot in such a manner as to prevent him from lifing the imprisoned foot before the engine was upon him. He was knocked down and the locomotive passed over one leg almost its entire length, crushing it dreadfully. The road surgeons subseqently amputated the mangled leg, but the shock was too great for endurance, and he quietly passed away on Saturday. Frank was a son of Cap't Minier of the 21st infantry. The family resided here for a time after the war, but for several years have made their home at Palo, where the widowed mother now lives, and where the remains were sent for interment.
