(Jim) Minier, 61, of 322 Lafayette St., Ionia, died unexpectedly Sunday at Ionia County Memorial Hospital after suffering a heart attack. He was born Sept. 19, 1920, in Ionia, the son of Frank P. and Marrietta Higbee Minier. He was married to LeOra Weber in Greenville on Dec. 7, 1941. Formerly employed by Standard Oil Co. for 18 years and Marathon Oil Co. for 4 years, he was employed at Ionia Hardware at the time of his death. He was a member of the musicians union, Ionia Elks, and the VRW post in Sheridan. He was a veteran of the World War II when he served in the Army as an engineer. He is survived by his wife; two sons, James W. Minier of Orleans and Terry R. Minier of Ionia; and three grandchildren, Michelle and Scott Minier and Brent Ferguson. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. from the Myers-Roetman Funeral Home, the Rev. Ronald Dow officiating. Burial will be in Balcom Cemetery. The family will be at the funeral home Monday and Tuesday, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. A memorial has been established in the care of the funeral home.
