Ionia Sentinel, Thurs., Sept 6, 1900
Not for many years has our entire community gone out in sympathy for the 
afflicted as it has during the past few days for Mr. and Mrs. Fred Minier. A 
bright and beautiful baby came to their home, March last and with it so many 
hopes and joys. It had, during its stay of nearly six months, found its way 
into the hearts of its parents, grandparents and friends with stronger ties 
than was realized till sickness came upon its little body. All was done that 
could be3 by medical aid and loving hearts, but to no avail, and Tuesday 
afternoon the little life passed out. Little Don was indeed a beautiful 
child and showed an especial love for its Grandfather Jeffers, who had in 
return formed an attachment for the little one so strong that it seemed as 
though he could not give it up. Why these little ones are taken from our 
homes we cannot tell unless it is to show us that our treasures are not for 
this life, and our only hope of permanency must be in the world to come. 
John W. Minier whose death was mentioned above was great grandfather to 
little Don.
