Funeral of Oscar B. Miske Held Here This Morning. Oscar R. Mikske, son of E.R. Miske of Luther, during his youthful years a resident of Ionia, was killed at Grand Rapids Monday night, just before midnight. Miske was making his last trip north for the night on Division and Plainfield car No. 311. At the crossing he ran ahead to see if the track was clear. On the switch was an outbound freight, and it is thought that when he noticed that this had cleared, he stepped onto the track directly in front of train No 7, the passenger train from Detroit, which was an hour and 25 minutes late. Engineer James Ryan of the passenger train did not see him until the engine hit him. Miske died at the station soon after the accident. The family resided in Ionia until about ten years ago, when they moved to Luther. Oscar Miske secured position with street railway company at Grand Rapids, where he had been employed since last spring. His age was 29, and he leaves a wife and one child, three months old. Remains arrived here at 8:15 this morning, accompanied by the wife, parents, and other family friends, and by the following named motormen and conductors detailed as pall bearers: A. C. Hazelwood, Geo. Lay, O.C. Madden, F. R. Lewis, Emory Aldrich, and H.P. Chaffee. The party was received here by members of the local order of M.W. of A., deceased being a member of the Luther camp, carrying an insurance of $1,000. The funeral service was held at 8:30 at the Church of Christ, Rev. G.W. Moore officiating; singing by Mrs. Eugene Smith and Mrs. W.C. Peer. Interment, Highland Park.
