The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Monday, September 25, 1978


Archie B. Misner, 82, of 9300 Eaton highway, route 3, died Friday evening at 
Ionia County Memorial hospital where he was a patient for one month.  He was 
born April 4, 1896 in East Jordan, the son of Thomas and Cynthia Misner and 
attended schools in East Jordan. 

He married the former Lucy Lavanway in 1921.  She preceded him in death January 
15, 1977.  They moved to Lake Odessa in 1949 and he was employed at Mitchell-
Reed Real Estate in Lansing as a carpenter.

Survivors include four sons, Archie, Jr., of Grand Rapids, Mitchell (Mike) and 
Floyd of Lake Odessa and Russell of Freeport; four daughters, Mrs. Gladys 
Peabody and Mrs. Ralph (Lucille) Bowerman of Lake Odessa; Mrs. Fred (Viola) 
Fyan of Sebewa and Mrs. Chester (Luella) Vandergriff of Grand Ledge; two 
sisters-in-law, Mrs. Wilda Misner Garifuo of Indian River and Mrs. Olive 
Phiffer of Dearborn; one brother-in-law, Elgin Lavanway of East Jordan; 41 
grandchildren and 50 great-grandchildren.

Services were Monday afternoon from the Pickens-Koops funeral chapel in Lake 
Odessa with Pastor Joseph Fox officiating.  Burial was in Lakeside cemetery.
