May 20, 1897 W. W. MITCHEL DEAD. He breathed His Last in Grand Rapids Yesterday-Funeral Friday. A message to Hon. Wm. O Webster yesterday announced the death at 8 o'clock that morning of W. W. Mitchel at Grand Rapids. The remains will be brought to Ionia Friday afternoon and taken direct to Highland Park cemetery for interment. Deceased was taken sick last Thursday with pneumonia, and Saturday last became unconscious, gradually failing until the end. He has for some time been in poor health. The only surviving member of Michel family are his sister, Emily Mitchel, and son Webster W. Mitchel, Miss May having only recently died. Deceased came to Ionia about 1857 and was for years one of Ionia's prominent and leading citizens, residing on East Main Street. He was widely known as an attorney, and removed to Grand Rapids about four years ago. He was a prominent member of the Ionia Bar association, and Judge Davis has ordered that body to meet in the court room at 1 o'clock today to take action on the death.
