Ionia Standard, 10 Sep 1886

Grandma Mitchell met with a horrible death last Thursday; the particulars are as 
follows:  About 11 o’clock Thursday morning, she took some straw and went to the 
far end of their farm to burn a bees nest; the fire caught in her clothing and 
she started on a run for the house, vainly trying with her hands to tear the 
burning clothing from her body.  By the time she got to the house, she was burned 
almost to a crisp, and after six hours of more than fearful agony, died.
