All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/mi/mifiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Marilyn Ransom mransom311@gmail.com August 28, 2014, 9:16 pm The Carson City Gazette, Thursday, August 21, 1930 Amyr Clayton Mitchell, youngest son of John Reed and Mary Ann Mitchell, was born at the old Mitchell home in Montcalm Co., Mich., May 10, 1880 and passed August 4, 1930 at his home in Royal Oak, Mich., aged 50 years and three months. As a child, he was sickly, but in high school and college days, he starred in athletics. Amyr was a Christian with a pleasing personality and was a favorite among his associates. In the year 1901, April 11, he was united in Marriage to Miss Minnie Rose, of Marshall, Mich., going to Seattle, Wa. to make their home. They lived 16 years in the West. In the fall of 1917 they located to Detroit, later moving to Royal Oak. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Minnie Mitchell, four sisters, Mrs. C. . Loomis, of Grand Rapids, Mrs. D. G. Locke of Carson city, Mrs. John G. Anderson of Muskegon and Miss Nora I. Mitchell, of Grand Rapids. His eldest sister, Mrs. Milo Bolender, of Sparta, preceded him in death just seven months. A brother, Albert, died when a young man 21 years old. Funeral director Geo. Bettes, of Sparta, brought the body to the Greenhoe Chapel in Grand Rapids Monday and the funeral was held from the M. E. Church in Hubbardston, Wednesday afternoon, August 6, Rev. Mr. Drake officiating. Nephews of the deceased acted as pallbearers. Burial was in the West Side cemetery in the family lot beside his mother, father and brother.
