Ionia Standard, 3 Oct 1913

The funeral service for Mrs. Ellen Hazen Mitchell, conducted by Rev. C.
Mendenhall, at the Episcopal church, where deceased was a worshiper for several
years, Thursday a.m., was attended by a considerable number of old-time friends.
 The burial ritual only was used.  The music was by members of the church choir,
with Miss Frances Gillette at the organ.  The floral tributes were numerous and
beautiful.  Burial was in Highland Park.  The bearers were the two sons, Col.
John H. Mitchell of this city and Stephen M. Mitchell of Lansing; two
grand-sons, Clark Mitchell and Rowley Mitchell, and Horace Rowley and J.C. Taylor.
