Mitchell, for more than a quarter of a century a resident of Ionia, passed away at the family home, 216 Yeomans street, Thursday evening, after an illness lasting about 10 days. Death occurred Thursday evening at 9:45. For many years Mr. Mitchell worked at the elevator conducted by K.R. Smith, Sr. After the elevator was sold to the Co-operative association, Mr. Mitchell accepted a position as keeper at the Michigan reformatory. Though Mr. Mitchell was ill but about 10 days, he has been in poor health for several months. Mr. Mitchell is well known by all the farmers throughout the county, having been connected with the elevator for so many years. Mrs. Mitchell attended the Church of Christ. Mrs. Mitchell is one of the loyal workers in that denomination. Mr. Mitchell is survived by his widow, two brothers, Alex Mitchell of Harbor Springs, and Peter Mitchell, of Vancouver, British Columbia and three sisters, Mrs. Collison, of British Colombia, Mrs. Crane of Saskatchewan, Canada and Mrs. Evans, of Ontario, Canada. The funeral will be at the residence Sunday afternoon at 2:30. Rev. M.H. Garrard will have charge of the service, and burial will take place in the family lot at Oak Hill cemetery.
