Chuck was a loving family man and was a great example to his wife and children of how to enjoy life and the people in it. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and being outside. He could fix everything and loved to tinker with anything mechanical, especially his old cars. Chuck found great satisfaction in helping others. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. He was born November 9, 1926 in Greenville, the son of Adelbert and Laura Hornig Mitchell. Chuck was a member of the Flat River Antique Car Club, the Dodge Brothers International Car Club and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He was married on July 17, 1948 in Belding to Alice Belanger and she survives along with their children, Mark and Mary Mitchell of Stanton, Bonnie and Bill Adams of Chelsea, Tim Mitchell and Fiance Joyce Lalone of Belding, his grandchildren, Claire Cameron, Jennifer Adams, Julie Adams, and Nathan Lalone. Chuck is also survived by his sister, Cora Russell of Greenville, his brother, James and Marilyn Mitchell of Belding, his brothers-in-law and their spouses, Bill and Thelma Krick of Greenville and Robert and Marcia Belanger of Howard City. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Walter, Adelbert “Jr.”, his sisters, D. Pauline Beard, Lucille Kiste, and Julia Krick. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 19 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Belding (Please meet at the church) with Father Troy A. Nevins officiating. Interment will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Belding. Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday with a scripture service at 8 p.m. at Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding. Memorials may be given to Alvah N. Belding Library or St. Joseph Catholic School.
