All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/mi/mifiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Nan Wheaton wheaton1624@yahoo.com February 27, 2021, 6:56 am Banner News - Wednesday, Feb. 6, 1924 Mrs. Hattie Moe, aged 82 years, one of the oldest pioneers of Otisco township and the vicinity of Smyrna in particular, where she had lived practically all of her long life, passed away at the home of her brother, Mark Hoppough, in Ionia at four o'clock Monday afternoon, following an illness which had afflicted her for a number of months. For the past few years, Ms. Moe had been spending her winters at the home of her brother in Ionia, but each year went back to her old home in Smyrna. Following a stroke of paralysis, which she suffered at her home in August, she has taken to her brother's home again, where her last illness came on and claimed her. Mrs. Moe was a daughter of Decker Hoppough Sr., who came to Smyrna about the time of the Civil war. Her funeral services will be held on Friday and will consist of a short prayer service at the house in Ionia, after which the remains will be brought to her old home in Smyrna, where the final services will be held. Burial will be in the cemetery at Smyrna. Surviving Mrs. Moe are three sisters, Mrs. Carrie Coleman of Kingsley, Kansas; Mrs. Louis Hall, of Des Moines, Iowa; Mrs. Alice Peterson of Smyrna. Three brothers, Mark Hoppough, of Ionia, and Frank and Clark Hoppough of Orleans.
