April 30, 1057 Theodore Moehlman Is Dead Theodore Henry Moehlman, 64, former Ionia business man and school board member and for many years secretary of the Ionia Elks, died Monday afternoon at 2:45 at the Ionia County Memorial hospital. He had been admitted at 9:30 a.m. that day. Mr. Moehlman had been afflicted with a heart condition for several years and had retired in his Muir farm several years ago because of his failing health. A native of Montague, he was born April 24, 1893, the son of Henry and Marie Moehlman. He attended school at Montague and was graduated from the Muskegon Business college. On December 26, 1917 he was married to Louise McKinstay. He saw considerable service in World War I and served as a sergeant major of Company A, postal express service. He served 25 months in the Army of which 15 were overseas. Mr and Mrs Moehlman moved to Ionia in April, 1921 and he was active in business circles until June, 1953. In August, 1948, Mr and Mrs Moehlman moved to Muir where they made their home. After his retirement from Ionia Business circles he continued to be actively engaged in his profession and was bookkeeper at the Lower Motor Sales, three miles east of Ionia. He was a life member of the Iona Elks and was one of two honorary past exalted rulers. He served the lodge as its secretary for eight years. Active in veteran affairs, Mr Moehlman was a past commander of the Gerard- Horrocks American Legion post of Ionia. He was elected to the Ionia city board of education from 1939 until 1947, being secretary of that board most of that period. He was the first commander of the Ionia VFW post. Surviving are his wife, Louise, a daughter, Mrs John Westbrook of Muir; two brothers Walter and Henry of Muskegon and two sisters, Mrs Howard Durham of Casnovia and Mrs R.K. Stitt of Conway. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday afternoon at 3 p.m. from the Phelps funeral chapel. The family will be at the funeral chapel Tuesday and Wednesday evenings from 7 until 9 p.m. Additional Comments: WWI-Co.A Army Oakwood Cem.
