May 14, 1966 Longtime resident of Ionia, Clyde M. Moffit, 73, of 528 King, died suddenly Friday at 8:40 p.m. at Ionia County Memorial Hospital. He was born march 20, 1893, in Hinton Township, Mecosta County, the son of Elizabeth Kelly and Leonard Moffit, and attended Sylvester School in Mecosta County. May 10, 1923, he married Elsie May DeRuiter in Lansing. Mr. Moffit was retired from General Motors. A member of the Lincoln Avenue Baptist Church, Senior Citizens club, World War I post 1362, and served in France during the First World War Surviving are his wife, Elsie May, a son, Robert Moffit of Ionia, two daughters, Elizabeth Blake of Lansing and Mary Prandine of Pontiac, and seven grandchildren. Funeral service will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Myers funeral home with burial at Deep Dale Cemetery in Lansing, Rev. Clifford Owen will officiate. There will be a memorial fund for the Lincoln Avenue Baptist Church.
