Former Resident Passed Away

Vern Monasmith, 79, of Edwardsburg passed away Monday night at an Elkhart, 
Indiana hospital after a long period of ill health.

He was a former resident and well known locally, as he had owned and operated a 
barber shop here with his wife Gertrude, leaving about 40 years ago for Lansing. 
After the death of his wife he moved to Edwardsburg where he operated a shop for 
a number of years.

Surviving are two daughters; Mrs. Andy (Carol) Barton of Elkhart, Indiana and 
Mrs. Geo. (Charlene) Miller of Rosemond, Calif.; a son Kedric of Woodbury; nine 
grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. 

Funeral services were held today, Thursday afternoon at 2 at the United Brethren 
church at Woodbury with burial in the Woodland Memorial cemetery. Rev. Torrey 
Barcanic officiated.
