Ionia Daily Sentinel-Standard, 30 Jul 1951

Earl Edgar Monks, 65, died suddenly Sunday, July 29, at 12:45 p.m. at his home 
in Portland township on Keifer road.  He was born March 9, 1886, in Berlin 
township, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Philip Monks.  He lived his entire life in 
Ionia county.  He was married August 5, 1906 to Miss Alice Badder.  Later he 
married Mrs. Sadie Fell December 25, 1923, at the LeValley parsonage.  Mr. 
Monks was a member of the Portland Grange.

Surviving are his wife; two sons, Freeman of Orange township and Roy of 
Detroit; one daughter, Mrs. Harm Miller, of Lansing, two step-sons, Donald Fell 
of Ionia and Louis Fell of Lansing; seven grandchildren; one brother, Clyde, of 
Ionia; and one sister, Mrs. Zenas Badder, of Orange township.

The body will be at the Stone-Kauffman funeral home until Wednesday noon when 
it will be removed to the LeValley church for services at 2 p.m.  The Rev. 
Henry Ball will officiate.  Interment will be in Balcom cemetery.
