Ionia Daily Sentinel, 27 Nov 1917

The following is from the Portland Review: “It is said that the death of
21-months-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Monks of Sebewa was due to poisoning which
it is believed was the result of eating bologna.  Mr. Monks had been in Ionia with
his two children and a young son of Mrs. Myrtle Green.  On the way home they ate
some of the meat purchased in the city and all were taken sick.  Dr. Maynard of
Tremayne’s Corners pronounced the symptoms those of poisoning.”
