Coila M. (Hanson) Monroe, 83, formerly of Ionia, died Tuesday at her home at 
2222 Fuller Road, in Ann Arbor.

Born February 6, 1891, in Dawson, Minn., she was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. 
Christopher Anderson. She was married September 22, 1917 in Preston, Minn. to 
Walter T. Hanson who died June 10, 1953. On April 7, 1956 she married Lewis O. 
Monroe.

She graduated from Northern Western University in 1914, was a member of the 
First Presbyterian church of Ionia, and a member of the Business Women’s 
Association.

She lived in Alma from 1921 to 1939, in Ionia from 1940 to 1973, and the past 
year in Ann Arbor.

Surviving is her husband, four sons, Richard and David Hanson of Ionia, Philip 
of Ann Arbor and Hugh of Bay City, 11 grandchildren, and one great grandchild.

Services will be Friday at 2 pm at Myers-Roetman funeral home and burial will 
be in Easton Cemetery.

The family will be at Myers-Roetman funeral home Wednesday and Thursday from 7 
to 9 pm.
