Montgomery, 84, of Ionia died Tuesday at Ionia Manor. Born March 29, 1904, in Sheridan, she was the daughter of Jud and Clara Gleason Simmons. She attended Haynor rural school and Belding High School. During World War II she was employed at A.C. Spark Plug Co. in Ionia and later operated a convalescent home. Surviving are a son, Robert Montgomery of Ionia; a daughter, Mrs. Charles (Joan) Strickling of Ionia; 15 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Gerald (Evelyn) Parker of Florida; and a brother, Lyle Simmons of Florida. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph; two sons, Judson and Jack; and two daughters, Marion Godden and Donna Montgomery. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday from the Cook Funeral Home, Ionia, with the Rev. Kathryn Coombs officiating. Burial will be in Easton Cemetery. The family will be at the funeral home 7 to 8:30 pm. Wednesday and Thursday. Memorials have been established for the Easton United Methodist Church and the Michigan Eye Bank.
