Ionia Sentinel Standard - May 3, 2011


Mrs. Montgomery, of Ionia, passed away on May 1, 2011 at the age of 94. She was 
at home with her family while receiving care from Ionia Area Hospice. Fern was 
born on Jan. 2, 1917 in Mecosta County to Robert and Mamie McCoy. Fern married 
Charles Snyder Montgomery on Oct. 15, 1945.

Surviving are Fern’s children, Robert (Margaret) Bennett, Linda (Ron) 
Dankenbring, Nancy (Wayne) Morgridge, Doris Hopkins and Pat (Terry) Madison; 23 
grandchildren; and 71 great grandchildren.

Fern was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie, who passed away in June of 
1974; daughters, Marguerite (Charles) Yahr and Joanne (William) Robinson; 
several grandchildren; son-in-law, Larry Hoypins; and brothers, Lewis McCoy and 
Robert McCoy.

Fern will be greatly missed by her family. She will always being our hearts and 
in our thoughts.

The Funeral Service will be conducted by Pastor Kenneth Harger at 11 a.m., 
Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, 220 Rich St., 
Ionia. Interment will be in Easton Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6 
to 8 p.m., Tuesday and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the 
funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to 
Ionia Area Hospice in her memory. Online condolences may be made to
