Feb. 12, 1936 Funeral services for Mrs. Frances Montgomery, 88, who died Saturday, February 8 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. LeRoy Cheney, in Flint, were held Tuesday, February 11 at the Bradley funeral home at 2 o’clock. Rev. H.A. Simpson officiated and interment was at the Highland Park cemetery. Pall bearers were LeRoy Cheney, Lawrence Cheney, Leonard Cheney and Bert Faulkner. Mrs. Thane Benedict and Mrs. Ray Colwell furnished the music. Attending from out of town were, Mrs. Rosecrans, of Lansing; Mrs. Alice Nichols, of Flint; Mrs. William Spaulding, of Chicago, and Mrs. LeRoy Cheney, of Flint. Mrs. Montgomery was the widow of Roderick Montgomery, an Ionia tailor for many years and surviving her are two daughters, Mrs. William Spalding of Chicago and Mrs. LeRoy Cheney of Flint. She has six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was born in Canada in 1843 and came to Ionia when she was 26 years of age. Two years ago she fell and broke her hip and went to live with her daughter, Mrs. Cheney, in Flint.
