Montgomery, 62, of 543 Nicholson street died suddenly at his home Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. He had been in ill health since the last of August. Mr. Montgomery was born January 13, 1896 in Easton township the son of Mr. and Mrs. George Montgomery. He was married June 9, 1923 to Lucille Simmons, and lived all his life in Ionia. He was employed by the City of Ionia about eight years. He was a veteran of World War I and re-enlisted July 14, 1918, served on the Mexican Boarder in Co. D., 78 Infantry and was discharged January 29, 1919. Surviving are his wife, Lucille; two sons, Robert and Jack and two daughters, Mrs. JoAnn Strickling and miss Marion Montgomery; 10 grandchildren; three brothers, Charles and Bud of Ionia and George of Orleans; five sisters, Mrs. Beulah Ogden, Mrs. Marvin Davis, Mrs. Nina Frederick and Mrs. Gladys Ogden of Ionia and Mrs. Lillian Speckin of Lansing. He was preceded in death by a son Judson and a daughter Donna. Funeral service will be held at Myers funeral home Friday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Heath Goodwin officiating. Burial will be in the family lot at Easton cemetery. Subsequent Publication: Monday, November 17, 1958 Funeral service for World War I veteran, Ralph D. Montgomery, 62, who died Tuesday at his home, was held Friday at Myers funeral home. The Rev. Heath Goodwin officiated. Interment was at Easton cemetery. Pallbearers were Tony Emelander, Russell Shattuck, Fred Slowinski, Roy Bodman, C. Anthony Balice, and Dale Shattuck. The flag was folded by Carl Seabrook and Mayor Balice. The city employees attended in a group. Attending from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Simmons, Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Parker, Mrs. Evelyn Parker, Mrs. Jack Tillapough and Mr. and Mrs. Ross Holland, all of Detroit; Mr. and Mrs. Harold Kanouse, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Clifford, Mr. and Mrs. George Montgomery of Orleans; Mrs. Andrew Walaskay and Phil Adams of Grand Rapids; Mr. and Mrs. Roscoe Johnson and Greg of Amble; Mrs. Gerald Noggle of Walled Lake; Mrs. Lillian Speckin and Trina, Mrs. Robert Cobles, Mr. and Mrs. William Robinson, Mrs. Eugene Parker, Mrs. Eva Rose, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Harrison and family and Mr. and Mrs. Peter Wirtz of Lansing.
