Ionia Sentinel - Thursday, Oct. 10, 1895

Catherine, wife of Samuel Montgomery, and mother of Sheriff A. T. Montgomery, died 
at her home, 128 Summit St., Tuesday night at 11 o'clock. For the past two years she

had not enjoyed good health and for a year past had been practically an invalid. The

funeral will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the M.E. church, interment 
in Highland Park cemetery. Deceased was born in the state of New York, and was 62 
years of age. She came to Ionia with her husband about 11 years ago, and during that

time surrounded herself with many friends. She was a lady much respected and had 
always been a member of the Methodist Episcopal church. She had no fear of death and

was kind and patient during her sufferings. She was a good and faithful wife and a 
kind and affectionate mother, and her husband and children were at her bedside 
during her last moments. Besides her husband, five children survive her, four sons,

Frank R., Alex T., Wm. J. and Edward and one daughter, Miss Mary.
