Aug. 30, 1988 IONIA – Corabelle “Corky” Moon, 60, of Ionia, died Monday at her home. She was born Sept. 19, 1927 in Ionia, the daughter of William and Edith Fillion Dowsett. She was graduated from Ionia High School in the Class of 1945 and was married to Richard H. Moon Sept. 18, 1952, in North Carolina. She was a member of Easton United Methodist Church. She was a teacher’s aide at Freedom Acres School and was a volunteer worker for Ionia Area Hospice. Surviving are her husband Richard; three sons, David Moon of Ludington, Michael Moon of Belmont and Patrick Moon of Traverse City; two grandchildren; two brothers, Lawrence Dowsett of Ionia and Charles Dowsett of Hendersonville, N.C.; two sisters, Mrs. Beecher (Sadie) Roberts of Mt. Pleasant and Mrs. James (Kathleen) Whitney of Alto; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister. Complete funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday from the Easton United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Kathryn Coombs officiating. Burial will be in Easton Cemetery. The family will be at Myers Memorial Chapel, Ionia, Tuesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 8:30 p.m. A memorial has been established for Ionia Area Hospice, in care of the funeral home.
