Rose M. Moon, 84, of Ionia, known as Grandma by all, passed away March 8, 2010. 
She was born Oct. 5, 1925, in Ionia, the daughter of Claude and Jessie 
(Emelander) Thomas. She married Howard Moon, May 19, 1945, in Ionia. He 
preceded her in death March 15, 1976.

Rose was a member of Berlin Center Church, and a member of WMW. She was very 
active in her community. Rose loved to cook, bake and was always sharing with 
others.

She was a wonderful mother, sister, wife, grandmother, aunt and friend.

Rose is survived by her daughters, Marilyn (Dennis) Simon of Portland, and 
Charlotte (Kirk) Bennett of Arizona; three grandchildren, Amber Simon, Derek 
Bennett, and Jason and Lexi Bennett; brothers Richard and Delores Thomas of 
Ionia and Leo Thomas of Ionia; sister Martha Swartz of Portland; brother-in-law 
Burton Taylor of Ionia; sister-in-law Margaret Thomas of Ionia; and many nieces 
and nephews. 

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at Berlin Center Church with 
Pastor Den Slattery officiating. Interment at Balcom Cemetery. The family will 
receive friends and relatives from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at 
Lake Funeral Home in Ionia. In lieu of flowers, you may make memorial 
contributions to Berlin Center Church, Grand Rapids Hospice or Heartland Health
