Laura B. Mooney, 77, of Belding, died Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2008, at Spectrum Health
Blodgett Hospital in Grand Rapids.

Laura was born Sept. 7, 1930, in Fowler, the daughter of Emmanuel and Beatrice
Benedict Mooney.  Laura graduated from Belding High School with the class of
1948.  She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Ave Maria Guild. 
In earlier years, Laura was a legal secretary for a law firm in Ionia and later
retired in 1995 from Belding Area School serving as an assistant to the
superintendent.  Laura was very active in her community being involved in
several organizations, having recently helped with the 60th anniversary of her
high school graduation.  Laura also enjoyed doing family genealogy.

She is survived by her children, Manny Mooney of Grattan, Eileen and Gary
Clayton of Belding; her grandchildren Leigh Anne Clayton of Belding, Aaron
Wizorick and family of Grand Rapids; several great-grandchildren; and her
sister, Sharon.  She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Eileen
Scheid; and four brothers, Jack Mooney, Ben Mooney, Harvey Fritch and George
Fritch.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic
Church, Belding, with Father Fred Brucker Presiding.  Interment will follow in
St. Joseph cemetery.  Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday with the rosary
prayed at 7:30 p.m. at Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding.  Memorials may
be given to St. Joseph Catholic Church or the American Diabetes Foundation.
