Henderson. Here she made many lasting friends by her cheerful disposition and pleasing personality. She loved everyone and everyone in turn loved and admired her. She was an attendant at the Central Methodist church here, and a member of the local chapter Eastern Star where she was most loyal and sincere in the principles of the Order. She was a past matron of the Coopersville chapter, having been devoted to the work for 45 years. Mrs. Melissa Mooney was born in 1953 in Lonsdale, Ontario, Canada. She married John Mooney in March 1878. The family moved to Saginaw, Michigan in 1880 and to Coopersville in 1906. Her husband died in 1918. Soon after, she came to Lake Odessa. She joined the Presbyterian church in Canada and never transferred that membership. Her friends were all the people she has ever known. Her passing is a great loss to her daughter especially, who last July lost her husband. Main street as well as friends who reside at the lake will miss her genial presence. The funeral was held at the home of her daughter Mrs. Murray J. Henderson Sunday afternoon, March 14, the Rev. Leon W. Manning officiating. The remains were taken to Coopersville for burial where another service was held by her friends there. She leaves a devoted and loving daughter and a faithful son Frank Mooney of Grand Rapids, bedsides a large circle of friends to mourn their ever young elderly friend of 84 years. The pall bearers were: Raymond Smith, Forrest Branch, Dr. C. H. Peabody, J. C. Fountain, Alex Miller and Clarence Yager. Friends from away to attend the funeral were: Dr. and Mrs. L. D. Mills and Mrs. Vernon Tasker of Coopersville, Dr. and Mrs. C. L. Pickell of Leanington, Ontario, Mrs. Gladys Ryan of Saginaw, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Mooney of Grand Rapids.
