Moore, age 81, of Ionia, passed away Saturday, Sept. 4, 2004, at her home. She was born Dec. 21, 1922, in Alanson, the daughter of Donald and Cora (Tyson) Gilbert. She graduated from Alanson High School in 1941, and went to Washington, D.C. to work for the U.S. Government shortly after Pearl Harbor. In 1943 she went for basic Nurses training at the Genesee Hospital School of Nursing in Rochester, N.Y. She married Homer I. Moore June 14, 1944, in Marlboro, Maryland. They had three children. Donna worked at Ionia County Memorial Hospital for nearly 30 years as director of the Medical Records Department and retired from there in 1989. She was an active member of the Ionia Women of the Moose #478 since 1964. Donna is survived by one daughter Diann (Ed) Jordan of Howard City; sons Gilbert (Phyllis) Moore of Belconnen, Australia; William (Julie) Moore of Vero Beach, Fla.; two sisters, three brothers, five grandchildren, three great- grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Memorial services are 11 a.m. Friday at the Lake Funeral Home in Ionia with Rev. Robert Nixon officiating. Burial of ashes Little Field Cemetery in Alanson at 2 p.m. Saturday. Visitation is 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday. Anyone wishing may make memorial contributions to Ionia Area Hospice.
