Resident of Belding Over Fifty Years Succumbs to Malady After suffering from sleeping sickness for a number of years, Ernest W. Moore, 62, former well known local man and for 25 years superintendent of the dyeing department at mill No. ?, the red mill, expired at his home, 207 E. Center, early Sunday morning. Mr. Moore came to Belding when a lad of seven. He was born in Plymouth, one of 13 children, in the family of Amzy Moore. During boyhood he attended the public school and at an early date began work in the Richardson Silk Mill. For 7 years he served as clerk and deliveryman for Lamb Bros. Grocery. Later he worked for a time as picker for the Belding-Hall Refrigerator Co. under the able tutoring of William Hutchinson, Mr. Moore learned the dyeing art. When the former retired, he took over the superintendency and for 25 years served his company faithfully, until his health failed ten years ago. He was a former member of the Maccabees, E.F.U. and K. of P. During his long illness he had been cared for in a very splendid way by his life’s companion, Mrs. Minnie Moore. The couple was married in 1893 and have always made their home in the city. Surviving besides the widow are two adopted daughters, Mrs. Ray McDonald of Lansing and Mrs. Virginia Winnie of St. Louis, and 8 grandchildren. There are also eight surviving brothers and sisters: Lee Moore of this city, Solon of Detroit, Bert of Rockford, Mrs. Effie Leonard of Pontiac, Mrs. Kathryn Durffee of Detroit, Mrs. Gertrude Thomas of Cadillac, Mrs. Abbey Eigchon of Grand Rapids and Mrs. Vesta Bussell of this city. Funeral services were held at the late home on Tuesday afternoon at 3 o’clock. Rev. H.S. Ellis officiated and burial was in River Ridge cemetery.
