Moore aged 84 of Ionia passed away July 3, 2006 at his home. He was born January 30, 1922 in Alanson, MI the son of Archie and Margaret (Huey) Moore. He attended Alanson High School and graduated in 1940. He entered the United States Marine Corps in October of 1941 and served as Sergeant in the South Pacific during WWII. He returned home in May of 1944 and than married his high school sweetheart Donna Gilbert in June of 1944. She preceded him in death September 5, 2004. Homer worked for the State of Michigan for over 27 years at Riverside Prison as a locksmith until retiring in 1983. He also owned and operated Moore’s locksmithing for over 20 years. He is survived by his children DiAnn and Ed Jordan of Howard City, Gib and Phillis Moore of Belconnen, Australia, Bill and Julie Moore of Vero Beach, FL. 5 Grandchildren and 3 great grandsons. Also surviving are 2 stepsons Dan North of Orleans and Rick and Judy North of Grand Rapids, 7 step grandchildren, 8 step great grandchildren and 2 step great great grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held Saturday 11:00 A.M. at the Lake Funeral Home in Ionia. Interment at Littlefield Cemetery in Alanson, MI , Monday 1:00 P.M. Visitation will be on Friday 5-8 P.M. at the Funeral Home. Anyone wishing may make memorial contributions to Ionia Commission on Aging.
