He was teaching his wife how to swim and was demonstrating various strokes to her when seized with cramps. His tragic death is the second drowning of the season in Ionia county. The funeral was held on Thursday afternoon of this week from the Belding Church of Christ, with Rev. E.E. Ellis in charge. It was attended by a host of friends and relatives as the young man had been held in high respect by those who knew him. Mr. Moore, with his wife and son, Kenneth, 5, and daughter, Virginia, 3, together with Mr. and Mrs. Frank MaHar and family, journeyed to Dixon creek last Sunday for a secluded spot where they could bathe and have a picnic dinner. Mr. Moore was anxious to have his wife learn to swim, and wanted such a place as the creek afforded to instruct her. After he had been in the water some time and rather tired from holding his wife up in the creek, he was taken with cramps as he feared Mrs. Moore was drowning. Mr. MaHar came to their rescue and succeeded in saving Mrs. Moore, but was too late to be of assistance to Mr. Moore. It was about 15 feet deep where the tragedy occurred, Mr. and Mrs. Moore resided on what is known as the Howe addition in Belding.
