Sentinel-Std. - Friday, March 11, 1955

Mark S. More, 74, 509 High street, died Friday  morning at 2:30 at the Ionia 
County Memorial Hospital where he had been a patient for five weeks.

Mr. More was born July 5, 1880 in Ionia, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Emory More. As 
a young man he was a musician and played with several traveling bands, among 
them the Forepaugh-Sells Bros. circus band, and the band of Buffalo Bill's Wild 
West. A painter and decorator by trade, he worked for several years in 
Columbus, Ohio, and was a member of Painters Union 119 of Grand Rapids, and of 
the Columbus, Ohio.

In 1910 he became the owner of one of Ionia's first motion picture theaters, 
the Mystic, which he later sold.

He was one of the original members of the Ionia Kid Band and later was 
cornetist in the Ionia city band.

Mr. More returned to Ionia in 1946 to stay with his mother and continued his 
work in painting and decorating. He was married to the former Georgia Goster of 
Columbus, Ohio in 1946.

He was night deputy at the Ionia county jail for the last four years. Mr. More 
was a life member of the Elks lodge. 

Surviving are his wife, Georgia, and one niece.

Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock at Myers funeral 
home with the Rev. Heath Goodwin officiating. 

Interment will be at Highland Park cemetery.
