The Belding Banner, Thursday, April 17, 1902
The sad news reached Belding friends Saturday that Mrs. Gertrude Morehead had 
died at her home in Edmore.  The remains were brought to Belding for burial 
beside her mother in the River Ridge cemetery Tuesday, and a large number of 
old friends met them at the station and accompanied them to their last resting 
place.  Rev. O. A. Carman officiated and Dr. Stanton and wife and Mr. and Mrs. 
Patterson sang Nearer My God to Thee and Home at Last.

Mrs. Morehead was 32 years of age June 19 last and was married at Palo nine 
years ago last August.  She was the daughter of Rev. O. J. Golden, formerly 
pastor of the M. E. church here, and leaves besides her husband, one little 
son, Kepler.  She taughter school at Palo, Edmore and nearly two years in the 
primary department at Belding.  Her death was caused by peritonitis.

The deceased was of a gentle, lovely disposition and had many warm friends in 
this city.  Four some two years past they have resided at Edmore, but were 
just on the point of removing to Crystal where her husband, Mr. D. D. Morehead 
had taken a hotel.  Mr. Morehead formerly traveled for the Belding Shoe Co.

Among those who came here with the remains were Mr. Moorhead, Rev. O. J. 
Golden and wife of Potterville, her brother, Clarence Golden of Bemidji, 
Minn., her grandmother and uncle, Mrs. Cynthia Bechard, and J. Mowbrey of 
Kalkaska, Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Morehead and daughter of Grand Rapids, Mrs. 
Jennie Sommers and Miss Emily Baker of Edmore.
