Oliver Morehouse, an old resident of Michigan, and relative of A. F. Morehouse, 
of this place, died Saturday morning last at the residence of his son-in-law, 
Edwin White, aged 93 years.  He was a veteran of the war of 1812.

Oliver Morehouse died at the residence of his son-in-law, Edwin White, in this 
township on the 9th inst., in the ninety-second year of his age.  When one so 
advanced in years, who has lived within the state since its territorial days, 
and whose experience has partaken so largely of pioneer life dies, the public 
feel an interest in knowing something of the incidents which made up that 
life.  He was born at Saratoga, N. Y., Dec. 12th 1795.  When the war 1812-15 
was in progress, he enlisted in Captain Simeon Crane’s company of State 
Militia, and was stationed at Sandy Hook, in New York harbor.  In 1816, after 
the war, he went to Livingston, N. Y., where he married Susan Farrand, a niece 
of the late Betheul Farrand, of Ann Arbor, this state.  Subsequently he removed 
to Newark, N. J., where there are yet some who remember his genial disposition 
and other personal characteristics which won to him so many friends.  In 1828, 
he went to Utica, N. Y., but not finding that degree of success desired, he 
sold out and returned to Newark, and removed in 1835 to Dearborn, Michigan, and 
resided within the state to the end of his life.  He was a life-long Democrat, 
and was personally acquainted with many of the public men of the state and 
nation of a half century ago.
